The seed collection
The seed collection stands, among the other collections of cultivated taxa in the garden, as a key part of the ex situ conservation actions. This specific enterprise plays a pivotal role in any botanic garden. The collection has been created from seeds collected from within the A. Borza Botanic Garden, as well as from wild areas, for many years. The seed sorting is done according to families, genera and species. By doing so, seeds are used in various morphology, germination and biochemistry studies, along with molecular analyses, as they are utilized for vegetation sample exchanges among botanic gardens, all with the scope of enlarging plant collections.
